Restorations

Every year, we complete between 10 and 15 full restorations

Mural Arts is invested in honoring and preserving Philadelphia’s world-renowned outdoor gallery of artwork, which attracts thousands of visitors every year and serves as a source of pride and inspiration for all Philadelphians.

Our Restorations initiative exists to care for beloved mural favorites, created by Mural Arts and beyond, and to act as a steward of our city’s visual history. Artists and restoration specialists sort through historical data and techniques, searching out the best ways to repair and revitalize the imagery that has become an iconic part of our civic landscape.

The artistry and imagery represented in these works are a vital part of Philadelphia’s history. The Restorations Initiative seeks to preserve this beautiful visual autobiography of our city, channeling the spirit and engagement of the original artists and communities while informing and inspiring future generations.
